Lead Engineer

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Lead Engineer, based in Dumbarton. You’ll be the technical authority for the delivery of new product developments and major platform upgrades across Aggreko’s manufactured generator portfolio, leading engineering activity to meet performance, quality, cost and delivery targets. What you’ll do as Technical Engineering Lead: Lead and provide professional engineering design input for new and existing generator products, improving performance, efficiency, manufacturability, reliability, safety and total cost of ownership Plan, coordinate and drive technical tasks across multi‑disciplinary engineering resources, agreeing priorities, milestones and delivery plans with Product Engineering Managers Define system test and validation strategies, approve development test results, and ensure compliance with applicable legislative and safety standards Own the technical delivery of designs, including creation and release of accurate Bills of Material, component specifications, and support to efficient supply and assembly that align with product requirements. Lead design reviews, engage suppliers on technology and component selection, and develop novel, differentiated product concepts that meet Aggreko’s modular mobile product format You are: A degree‑qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with strong industrial experience in the design of complex engineered products; Chartered Engineer status preferred An experienced technical lead with a proven track record of developing gas or diesel reciprocating generator packages within a commercially demanding manufacturing environment Highly proficient in the use of computer‑aided engineering tools, including 3D CAD, thermal calculations, 1D flow analysis, FEA and CFD A systems thinker who understands how design decisions impact performance, safety, reliability, maintainability and cost across the full product lifecycle A confident leader who can work under pressure, identify critical risks early, and deliver high‑quality outcomes to tight timescales Here’s what you’ll get: The opportunity to lead the design of market‑leading power generation products used globally in critical applications A collaborative engineering environment where safety, innovation and continuous improvement are core to everything we do Competitive salary and bonus, industry‑leading benefits, and excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development A role with real influence, shaping future product platforms and helping define “the art of possible” in generator design Our people are can‑do, positive, resilient and persistent.
