Lead Engineer
Lead Engineer - Data Center Operations (Site Team)
About the Role
The Lead Engineer directs the Operations Site Team, its associated activities, and vendors to ensure the Data Center is operated and maintained safely, within Service Level Agreements (SLA), and with minimal risk. As the primary point of contact, the Lead Engineer manages day-to-day activities of the Technical Operations Site Team, ensuring:
- All reactive and planned maintenance tasks are delivered to agreed timelines and SLAs/KPIs using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Incident management is handled efficiently and transparently.
What You’ll Do
Technical & Operational Leadership
- Ensure full adherence to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and permits for all site works.
- Lead response and coordination for building services infrastructure issues, including collaboration with Site Engineers and third-party specialists where necessary.
Incident & Maintenance Management
- Oversee coordination and documentation of incidents via CMMS systems, including maintenance of incident reports.
- Supervise planned and reactive maintenance tasks to preserve operational efficiency and compliance.
Authorized Personnel Duties
- Act as an HV Authorised Person, covering:
- Safe isolation procedures
- Issuing permits to work
- Operational checks and approvals
Specialist Services Oversight
- Support induction processes for Specialist Service Contractors
- Approve minor works listed on service report sheets
- Liaise with the planning team for tasks under supervision.

Client & Team Support
- Monitor SLA compliance and communicate effectively with client representatives.
- Provide support to Data Center and Site Management, including:
- Communication assistance
- Technical advice
- Coverage for absences
What You’ll Need
Qualifications & Experience

Strong experience in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments, preferable in data centers or similar settings.

Essential:
- Knowledge of key data centre infrastructure components such as:
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Cooling systems
- Recognized formal electrical training (e.g., City & Guilds).
- Experience in operational safety practices, HV isolation, and permit management.

- ITIL certification or ServiceNow experience for incident/logistics management.

- Ability to make informed risk-based decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient use of CMMS systems.

- Self-driven, highly organized, and capable of prioritising multiple tasks with precision.
