Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Hours: 37 hours per week | Permanent
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in pump systems and rotating equipment to join our engineering team in Gloucestershire. This is an exciting opportunity to take technical ownership of mechanical design projects, developing innovative engineering solutions for industrial applications from concept through to manufacture.
The Role
You'll be responsible for designing mechanical equipment and producing the calculations, drawings and technical documentation required to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. A key focus of the role is the design, specification and application of pump systems, so previous experience working with pumps, fluid handling equipment or related process machinery is essential.
Working closely with manufacturing, sales and operations, you'll support projects throughout the product lifecycle while ensuring designs meet customer requirements, industry standards and regulatory compliance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
