Lead Maintenance Engineer
Location: The Crown Estate, Regent Street, London
About the Role
Providing leadership, management, and development of a defined team to ensure operational commitments are met and exceeded. The role will require close liaison with employees, clients, and internal senior managers. The operation should be proactive, driven to achieve total customer satisfaction, whilst ensuring operational and fiscal plans are met or exceeded.
Responsibilities

Responsible for health and safety (H&S) of sites and engineers;

Act as on-site High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) Authorised Person when qualified and on shift.

Proactively check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements, particularly ensuring sub-contractors adhere to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Ensures the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) system operates correctly as per BGIS Quality, Health & Safety standards and client requirements.

Ensures sub-contractors perform to meet contractual requirements; approves subcontractor work and oversees safe operation during repairs or services on site.

Undertakes additional responsibilities as defined/requested by site management.

Conducts annual appraisals of shift technicians after completing the BGIS Appraisal and Development training course.

Maintains awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs/Service Level Agreements (SLA).

Ensures the Computer-Based Maintenance System (e.g., Maximo, Concept) is up to date and PPM (predictive maintenance) and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.

Works closely with the Area Contract Manager to ensure consistently high service levels.

Supports the Contract Support team in achieving high customer satisfaction.

Responsible for statutory & code compliance of sites; ensures engineers are equipped to carry out tasks effectively.

Plans PPM schedules for sites to balance workload, in collaboration with the Area Contract Manager.

Ensures PPM is conducted as per manufacturer’s guidelines.

Oversees the return of PPM and work-related documentation; manages Day Engineers and shift team members.
-
Ensures all sites have accurate asset registers and labels assets accordingly.
-
Responsible for fast and effective procurement of materials and services; proactively sources additional works and requests quotations.

Provides technical support to engineers, helpdesk, and customers.
-
Investigates and reports on major operational incidents.

Ensures all callouts are attended to in conjunction with the helpdesk.

Promotes a strong health and safety culture across the entire team.

Assists engineers with PPM tasks as required; maintains regular communication with the engineering team.

Ensures weekly tasks are completed and supports the site manager in producing delivery reports.

Ensures customer service levels are maintained.

Ensures uniforms are worn and in good condition; confirms 3rd party contract work has been completed.

Attends all statutory works to understand procedures and provide feedback.

Escalates unapproved quoted works (if these could potentially impact business) to FM.

Acts as the first point of contact for in-hour shift issues and concerns.

First line of contact for escalating mechanical incidents.

Responsible for producing and distributing a weekly report in conjunction with the Area Contract Manager.

Carries out reasonable management requests.
