Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
Salary: £53,000
Shift: Monday to Friday – Days Only
Job Role of the Lead Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Engineer to join a well-established and fast-paced food manufacturing business based in Stonehouse. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on within a modern manufacturing environment.
As the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day engineering function, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and supporting the engineering team in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across the site. You will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, improving engineering standards and ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum.
This position would suit a proactive engineering professional with strong leadership skills who enjoys mentoring others while maintaining a hands-on approach.

Sector: Food Manufacturing / Factory Maintenance
Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Lead Engineer
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment
- Multi-skilled engineering background (electrical and mechanical)
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring engineering teams
- Strong experience carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance
- Ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate engineering activities
Requirements for the Lead Engineer
- Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience
- Engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical)
- Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production, or industrial environments
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and engineering performance
Desirable Requirements for the Lead Engineer
- Previous experience in a Lead Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, or Team Leader position
- PLC fault-finding experience (inputs and outputs)
- Food manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of CMMS systems
- Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
