Lead Engineer – Field Quality Team

Lotus Cars Limited, Hethel, Norfolk

Lotus Cars is renowned for crafting world-class, high-performance, and lightweight sports cars celebrated across the globe. Lotus Cars Limited serves as the company’s manufacturing HQ in the UK, producing iconic models such as the Emira and the all-electric Evija.

As we continue to elevate our capabilities and global presence, we are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our dynamic Field Quality team at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hethel.


Summary

This role is critical to deliver class-leading product quality to Lotus customers. You will be part of an agile team responsible for driving fast containment and resolution of all field concerns within our new manufacturing facility.

We are looking for a candidate within and beyond the automotive sector, exhibiting Lotus’ famous entrepreneurial spirit and an aspiration to shape the role to deliver exceptional customer experiences.


What You’ll Do

Resolving Top Warranty Items

  • Drive continuous improvement on top warranty items through robust problem-solving.
  • Collaborate across all business areas to close concerns and problems outside formal reviews.
  • Exceed customer expectations.
  • Champion class-leading problem-solving.
  • Go over and above delivered standards.

Critical Issue Management

  • Coordinate critical field issues within the Field Action Process.
  • Work with key stakeholders to gather and document all relevant information.
  • Lead each issue through the Technical Review Group (TRG) timeline, driving mitigation and campaign launch plans.
  • Optimise and maintain the Field Action Process, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Prepare clear, concise documentation for senior leadership reviews (including technical and cost proposals).
  • Act as the single point of contact for market communications (campaign launch + regional authority compliance).

Future Strategy

  • Support new product strategy implementations.
  • Develop and execute a future warranty system strategy for upcoming models and customers.

Reporting & Communication

  • Maintain, monitor, and drive core KPI deliverables.
  • Reduce total cost of quality (COQ) in warranty claims.
  • Report warranty data via PowerBI visuals, updating senior leadership on campaign and warranty status.

What You’ll Bring

Expertise & Experience

  • Degree qualification in a relevant technical field (essential).

  • Experience in lean operations (favourable but not essential).

  • Strong problem-solving ability.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    Familiarity with:

    • Manufacturing operations (favourable but not essential).
    • Warranty/ERP systems (favourable).
