The Role: Lead Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join our Application Platform Team, blending strong technical leadership with a passion for mentorship. You’ll: ✔ Guide teams in delivering high-quality, production-ready solutions ✔ Own technical design across modern engineering stacks ✔ Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, product, and data teams ✔ Drive scalability in cloud-native systems ✔ Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, reliability, and delivery standards

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Set vision for application architecture, ensuring alignment with data-driven goals
  • Advocate for cloud-native best practices, including Kubernetes, ** microscopics to pull infrastructure closer together**.
  • Optimise development workflows and CI/CD pipelines for efficiency
  • Master observability (e.g. New Relic) to prioritise production stability

Team Development

  • Mentor and grow engineers at all levels
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives (e.g. pair programming, documentation)

Collaboration

  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs
  • Collaborate with data science, product, and cloud teams
  • Future-proof architecture to support AI-enabled innovation

Additional Considerations

Your familiarity with Elasticsearch (or willingness to learn) is a competitive edge for designing resilient search solutions.

Technical Expertise

✔ Core stacks: .NET, Python, React/JavaScript, Terraform ✔ Expansion potential: Go, Rust, or newer frameworks; open to cloud technologies ✔ Cloud-native environments: Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps ✔ CI/CD mastery: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Octopus, plus rigorous testing etlist help more retailers and brands identify the right products maximises value for the end shopper.

✔ Experience leading engineers with a focus on team growth ✔ Comfortable cutting through bureaucracy to implement solutions ✔ Strong communicator, engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders
