We're looking for a highly skilled Lead Engineer
To provide technical leadership across Bupa's strategic data and analytics products, including our cloud-native Advanced Analytics platform and Technology Insights Centre. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for designing, building, and governing business-critical products that enable advanced analytics, data-driven decision-making, and technology insights across the organisation.
As the technical authority for your domain, you'll combine deep engineering expertise with strong architecture, security, and governance knowledge to drive product delivery, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. You'll lead engineering teams, shape technical strategy, and champion modern engineering practices while remaining actively involved in solution design and technical problem-solving.
How you’ll help us make health happen
- Provide technical leadership for Bupa's strategic data and analytics products, ensuring high standards of engineering, architecture, and delivery.
- Design secure, scalable cloud solutions and drive the technical roadmap from concept through to implementation.
- Champion modern engineering practices, including automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability.
- Embed security, governance, and regulatory compliance into all solutions, balancing innovation with risk management.
- Collaborate with product teams and senior stakeholders to deliver business value and influence technical direction.
- Remain hands-on with solution design, code reviews, and complex technical challenges while coaching and developing engineers.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing across teams.

What you'll bring
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud-based technology products, ideally within GCP or a comparable cloud platform.
- Strong expertise in automation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with secure data integration, including APIs, databases, and data pipelines, alongside authentication and access technologies such as OAuth and OIDC.
- Proven ability to design secure, scalable solutions within regulated environments, with a strong understanding of governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Track record of delivering complex enterprise-scale technology solutions across large and multinational organisations.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Knowledge of SQL and Python is advantageous, while experience with tools such as FiveTran or Airbyte would be beneficial.
