Expleo is Recruiting for a Lead Engineer - Powertrain Controls Embedded Software

Expleo are actively recruiting for a Lead Engineer - Powertrain Controls Embedded Software to work on behalf of our renowned sports car client at their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Norfolk. This permanent opportunity will join a highly skilled team to strengthen powertrain controls capability, support programme delivery, meet engineering client objectives, and provide technical direction across the department.

Responsibilities

  • Manual C-code for engine and transmission control, plus algorithm design, implementation, testing, and initial calibration.
  • Develop engine control strategies to meet emissions and performance targets, resolving engine and transmission control issues.
  • Create and modify calibration procedures, using calibration tools, and guiding others on algorithm calibration.
  • Integrate powertrain controls into vehicle electrical systems and supporting manufacturing and after-sales.
  • Vehicle and engine controls development, emissions test coordination, and attending off-site and climatic testing.
  • Lead smaller programmes, coordinating technical work, preparing documentation, and contributing to proposals.
  • Support chief engineers, suppliers, and customers, specifying ECUs and I/O for new systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensuring adherence to safety and engineering processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Ideally educated to Degree or HNC level or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience with authoring manual C-code software, ideally for combustion engine management systems.
  • Deep understanding of powertrain control strategies, combustion engine development, and calibration processes.
  • Strong knowledge of emissions, OBD, and regulatory requirements, especially for high-performance/low-volume applications.
  • Skilled with calibration development tools, DoE methods, and calibration management systems.
  • Proven track record delivering senior-level calibration and powertrain programs.
