Role description
At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer - Powertrain Performance Test Lead to be based at our office, Warwick.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Role Summary
The Performance Test Engineer is responsible for conducting performance attribute tests (e.g. 0-100kph sprint tests, Vmax tests), troubleshooting vehicles, and analyzing and reporting results, across various vehicle architectures and powertrains. A Performance Testing Engineer works alongside the Performance Attribute Engineers, other Test Engineers and the Performance Technical Specialist, in a collaborative and diverse environment.
We are looking for an engineer to add to our dynamic and growing team, with specific focus on on-track and on-road Performance Attribute and Features Testing. The successful candidate will work on xHEV and BEV vehicles, supporting the Lead Engineers in the delivery of competitive performance.

The successful candidate should be someone that is keen to conduct track-based and road-based testing, able to troubleshoot vehicle and logging issues, with good data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to learn and adapt fast, operating under fluid and tight deadlines, to support the timely delivery of Performance Metrics across our range of products.
Area of Responsibility
The Performance Test Engineer delivers physical testing to support the Performance Attribute metrics, as per the performance test plan.
The responsibilities include:
- Setting up test vehicles, ensuring instrumentation works and signals are logged correctly.
- Executing physical tests to evaluate the Performance Attribute metrics (e.g. 0-100 kph time, Vmax, repeated accelerations, etc.).
- Troubleshooting and feeding back on vehicle and measurement toolchain.
- Processing and visualizing test data using the tools provided and supporting toolset improvement.
- Evaluating and logging the behavior of performance features.
- Producing test reports.
- Performing unscheduled and urgent test requests.
Knowledge / Experience
- Experience in vehicle testing on track, including high speed and dynamic testing.
- Experience in test data acquisition and analysis, and associated toolchain.
- Experienced driver with valid full license and less than 7 live penalty points, and history of vehicle testing.
- Presentation and Communication skills.
- Location – UK, Leamington Spa / Gaydon – must be able to sort out own travel
