Role Description
The Lead Engineering Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Luton, responsible for overseeing day-to-day engineering operations within a highly automated fulfilment environment. This role coordinates engineering teams to ensure optimal performance of automated systems, drives operational efficiency, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across site operations.

Responsibilities
- Managing maintenance and reliability programs
- Monitoring operational performance metrics
- Implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and risk
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including logistics, technology, and safety teams, to align engineering activities with business objectives
- Leading and developing engineering leaders and technicians
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
- Contributing to strategic planning for future capacity and capability
Qualifications
- Strong Operations Management skills, including oversight of engineering workflows, maintenance planning, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills for interpreting operational data, diagnosing issues, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Proven Program Management experience, with the ability to manage complex initiatives, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver improvements on time and within scope.
- Robust Engineering Management capabilities, including familiarity with automated systems, reliability engineering, and technical problem-solving.
- Effective Team Leadership skills, with experience leading diverse engineering teams, coaching others, and fostering an inclusive, safety-focused culture.
- Relevant engineering or operations degree (or equivalent experience), ideally in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or systems engineering.
- Experience in high-volume fulfilment, logistics, manufacturing, or similar automated environments is highly beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Comfort working on-site in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and adapting to evolving operational needs.
