Lead Engineering Production controller

Production Controller – Engineering & Vessel Compliance

About the Role

This is a key role within the Engineering Department that may require working shifts.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Planning, coordinating, monitoring, and controlling all production activities
  • Ensuring vessel compliance is maintained
  • Delivering vessel modifications and projects on time and within budget
  • Acting as the key liaison between engineers and technical teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations
    • Uphold best working practices and housekeeping standards for an engineering environment
  • Vessel Compliance & Efficiency:

    • Oversee UBTC fleet compliance through effective planning
    • Plan tasks for Vessel Appearance teams (both day and night shifts)
    • Ensure vessel availability maximises capacity while maintaining full compliance and highest standards of appearance

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead and motivate production controllers
    • Delegate tasks and provide training where necessary
    • Serve as a role model and champion of the company’s values
  • Process Improvement & KPIs:

    • Develop a set of KPIs to drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and performance across Engineering and Vessel Appearance teams
  • Defect & Maintenance Coordination:

    • Work closely with technical teams to schedule high-priority defects in work packs
    • Aim to clear all SOLAS-defect high risks within 30 days

    • Cover duties (holidays/absences) for other Engineering support team members
    • Contribute to Centrik & Stock System management where applicable

    • Undertake any other relevant tasks or reasonable requests from the HOD (Head of Department) or senior management team

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Production Controller/Planner in the transport sector
  • Familiarity with or knowledge of marine engineering principles
  • Experience with ISM compliance management
  • Understanding of the IMO High-Speed Craft Code
  • Proficiency in computer systems and business software (e.g., databases, reporting tools)
