About the role
Enterprise Architects are leaders working across different levels within an organisation, to translate the business strategy into business change and technical delivery.
As a Lead Enterprise Architect for Command and Control (C2), you’ll support the Principal Architect for C2 to shape and influence command and control systems across the defence enterprise. You’ll help technologists align their efforts with the needs of the military and help the military digitise their C2 processes.
Although this is a C2 role, the initial tasking is likely to be focussed on the military process of targeting, as part of the design authority for the Digital Targeting Web (DTW). The DTW is a high-profile Strategic Defence Review initiative.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead on the development of reference architectures for C2 and Targeting to support coherence across the organisation.
- Network and communicate with senior stakeholders and across enterprises and seek opportunities for improvement.
- Provide leadership to direct reports and across the enterprise.
- Horizon scan for influences or risks.
- Take a leading role in the overall direction of business and digital capabilities and support successful delivery of the long-term strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
