Job description

Enterprise Architects are leaders working across different levels within an organisation, to translate the business strategy into business change and technical delivery.

As a Lead Enterprise Architect for Command and Control (C2), you’ll support the Principal Architect for C2 to shape and influence command and control systems across the defence enterprise. You’ll help technologists align their efforts with the needs of the military and help the military digitise their C2 processes. Although this is a C2 role, the initial tasking is likely to be focussed on the military process of targeting, as part of the design authority for the Digital Targeting Web (DTW). The DTW is a high-profile Strategic Defence Review initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development of reference architectures for C2 and Targeting to support coherence across the organisation.
  • Network and communicate with senior stakeholders and across enterprises and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports and across the enterprise.
  • Horizon scan for influences or risks.
  • Take a leading role in the overall direction of business and digital capabilities and support successful delivery of the long-term strategy.

Person specification

Please ensure that your application demonstrates the essential criteria below:

  • Experience of delivering complex, end-to-end architectural projects, that align to enterprise-wide business strategies and of leading teams.
  • Proficiency in tools, methodologies and frameworks to support architectural design, governance, strategic development and stakeholder communication, such as ArchiMate, Bizz Design Enterprise Studio and TOGAF.
  • Experience in creating reference architectures for digital services, to help drive change across a complex organisation.

You’ll also need:

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders, providing direction and challenging when required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Ability to influence and lead in a complex setting, and to manage and mentor colleagues.
  • Great communication skills (written, verbal and presentational), able to articulate complex architectural concepts clearly to technical and non-technical users.

If not held already, opportunity may be provided to gain the following when in post:

  • TOGAF certification
  • Open Agile Architecture™ Practitioner Certification
  • ArchiMate Training
  • ITIL certification

Additional information

  • This post is eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance of up to £15,300 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with MOD policy.
  • This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station, which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. Please note that due to the classification of some IT systems needed in this role, site attendance will be required to complete some of the duties of this position.
  • Dependent on the business need, there will be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK (or potentially occasional overseas visits).
  • If not already held, successful candidates will be required to attain DV clearance.
  • Please note, this position is open to sole UK nationals only.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
