This role supports the Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL3) and Eastern Green Link 4 (EGL4) projects—spanning from Lincolnshire to Walpole, Norfolk—as Lead EPC Project Manager. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with regular travel to project sites, alongside flexible working solutions tailored to your needs.
Job Purpose
As Lead EPC Project Manager, you’ll spearhead the delivery of one of the most significant electricity grid upgrades in generations. Your responsibilities include:
- Developing, authorising, and closing major infrastructure projects in line with National Grid’s Network Development Process.
- Ensuring seamless coordination across pre-construction, consenting, delivery, and close-out phases—adhering to safety, time, budget, and quality standards.
- Merging health, safety, environmental, and stakeholder considerations into project delivery while meeting regulatory, customer, and business obligations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead project phases: Direct pre-construction, development, consenting, delivery, and close-out activities.
- Manage & coordinate teams: Oversee contractors, consultants, and project teams to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
- Drive stakeholder & customer satisfaction: Engage proactively and resolve issues effectively for optimal outcomes.
- Deliver safer, efficient solutions:Champion safety-by-design, CDM Regulations compliance, and cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate technical aspects: Managing design, safety, commissioning, stakeholder engagement, and post-completion requirements.
- Proactice consulting & planning: Support consenting, land negotiations, cost estimation, programme development, and innovative risk mitigation.
- Maintain high-quality documentation: Ensure regulatory compliance, implement lessons learned, and produce accurate monthly reports on safety, timelines, risks, and financial forecasting.
- Oversee contractor activities: Monitor adherences to National Grid standards, Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and CDM Rules.
- Supervise commissioning & asset handover: Lead testing, compliance verification, and as-built documentation generation.
- Engage external stakeholders: Build trusted relationships with landowners, communities, third parties, and business partners to safeguard National Grid’s reputation.
- Deputise leadership: Perform NEC Project Manager duties (or equivalent), mentor team members, and assume leadership roles when required.

- Proven experience leading cross-functional project teams.

Technical & Professional Expertise
- Extensive project management experience across safety, programme, cost, risk, governance, quality, contracts, and stakeholder coordination.
- Record of delivering major infrastructure projects successfully.
- Familiarity with structured governance frameworks and business processes.
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and compliant Health, Safety & Environmental practices.
- NEC contract experience (plus full UK driving licence).
- Preferred qualifications: NEBOSH or IOSH certifications.
