Lead EPC Project Manager/EPC Project Manager

Project Manager – Infrastructure Delivery (High Voltage Projects)

Location: Primarily based in Blyth & Teesside, Northeast England Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37-hour working week (hybrid: office, site, home working) Salary:

  • Standard Role: £54,000–£67,000 (plus £4,500 annual supplement)
  • Lead Role: £61,400–£77,000 (plus £4,500 annual supplement)

About the Role

Great Britain’s electricity infrastructure is evolving through an ambitious transformation, ensuring a cleaner, greener system that benefits future generations. Our Infrastructure Delivery (ID) team is leading high-value, large-scale construction projects, including upgrades and new High Voltage substations at various stages of development and delivery.

We are seeking experienced Project Managers (with an option for a Lead role) to drive these critical projects in the Northeast of England. Your role will involve managing entire project lifecycles, from development to completion, with a focus on safety, deadlines, budgets, and stakeholder engagement.


Key Responsibilities (Varies by level)

  • Lead and support project development, consenting, delivery, and close-out in alignment with governance frameworks.
  • Ensure health, safety, environmental compliance, and CDM regulations are met at all stages.
  • Manage contractors and project teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification.
  • Develop and maintain key project documentation, financial forecasts, and progress reports.
  • Drive stakeholder and customer engagement, resolving challenges proactively.
  • Support tendering, contract strategy, and NEC contract management.
  • Oversee commissioning, handover, and asset integration.
  • Contribute to risk management, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement.

Work Arrangement

This role requires a hybrid working model, including:

  • Daily site attendance during construction (split between Blyth and Teesside)
  • Office-based work
  • Occasional home working

About You

We are looking for a tenacious, accomplished Project Manager with:

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven track record in delivering complex construction or electricity transmission projects (substation expertise is a plus).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of:
    • CDM regulations
    • Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSSEQ) standards
    • NEC (New Engineering Contract) contract management (NEC3/NEC4 ECC)
  • Commercial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and governance experience.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, construction management).
  • Project Management qualification (APM or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • NEC3/NEC4 Project Manager accreditation.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

For the Lead Role

  • Advanced project management experience with team supervision and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to build resilience and develop team capability.
