Lead Flight Test Engineer

£85,000 - £100,000 per annum

Bournemouth, Dorset

Full-Time | Permanent

We're looking for an experienced Lead Flight Test Engineer to join a leading aviation and defence organisation operating at the forefront of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Operational Readiness Training.

This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the development, testing and certification of next-generation airborne Electronic Warfare systems while working alongside highly experienced aviation professionals on a diverse fleet of aircraft.

The organisation supports the UK Ministry of Defence, NATO allies and international defence customers by delivering advanced airborne Electronic Warfare capabilities and realistic operational training environments.

The Role

Reporting to the Flight Test Manager, you'll lead the planning, execution and reporting of flight test programmes across a unique and varied fleet of aircraft.

  • Working closely with Design Office engineers, maintenance teams and test pilots, you'll oversee flight test activities from initial planning through to certification and final delivery.
  • You'll also work directly with regulatory authorities to ensure all flight testing is carried out safely and in full compliance with applicable regulations.
  • This is a flying role. When not undertaking flight test activities, opportunities may also be available to support Operational Readiness Training missions as rear crew, depending on your experience and qualifications.
  • The position includes international travel and operational deployments across Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
