Principal Frontend Engineer – Stealth Growing Start-Up – London (Hybrid)
About the Company
This innovative start-up is a newly formed, rapidly expanding, well-backed enterprise founded by an experienced leadership team with ambitious international growth plans. Currently operating from London and Malta, London will serve as the long-term technology and marketing hub. The company maintains a small, collaborative team approximately 10-11 employees in the UK, with additional team members in Malta. Their vision is to develop a world-class internal technology capability to support their global expansion across multiple regulated markets.
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Principal Frontend Engineer to join an exciting, fast-growing, and well-funded pre-seed start-up. In this hands-on leadership position, you will be instrumental in designing and building scalable systems from the ground up. This role combines architectural oversight with active development, giving you ownership of the technical direction and delivery. You will work with modern tooling, including AI-assisted development approaches, to build and iterate on innovative systems. The focus is on strong engineering fundamentals writing high quality code, shaping architecture, and continuously improving product scalability and performance.

Responsibilities
- You are a highly experienced engineer with strong architectural expertise and a passion for building well-designed, scalable systems.
- You have played a key role in shaping technical strategy and take pride in delivering high quality solutions.
- You’re an accomplished Lead/Principal Frontend Engineer with hands-on experience in: Vue.js, TypeScript, APIs, Node.js, React (or similar frameworks).
- You are enthusiastic about integrating AI-assisted approaches into development workflows.
- You are proactive, an excellent communicator, and comfortable working independently or collaboratively to achieve impactful outcomes.
- You enjoy ownership and are eager to help define engineering standards, architecture, and product direction.
- Experience in fast-paced start-up environments, fintech, real-time consumer platforms, or high-availability systems will give you an added advantage.

Required Skills

Preferred Skills
- Experience in fast paced start up environments, fintech, real-time consumer platforms, or high availability systems.
Pay range and compensation package
- Salary: £90,000 – £110,000 + benefits package
- Location: London based, hybrid working with flexible arrangements. The long-term technology hub will be based in London.
