Role Overview
As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, they will operate at the intersection of hands-on technical execution, team leadership, and product strategy. The role remains highly technical, with responsibility for building high-leverage and complex parts of the platform. Impact will increasingly come from setting technical direction, unblocking teams, and raising engineering standards across the organization. They will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and product leadership to ensure the team is building the right solutions, in the right way, at the right time.
What They’ll Do
- Own architecture and technical strategy for core domains and systems.
- Design, guide, and implement complex, cross-functional solutions spanning multiple areas of the product.
- Write high-impact code, including reference implementations, critical-path systems, and foundational frameworks.
- Lead technical discussions, clarify trade-offs, and align teams around decisions.
- Mentor senior engineers and support the growth of future technical leaders.
- Coach engineers to make strong technical decisions independently rather than centralizing all decisions.
- Identify scaling risks, bottlenecks, and technical debt proactively, and lead efforts to address them.

The Problem Space
This is not limited to standard CRUD application development. Engineers will work on meaningful production challenges that combine physical systems, real-world constraints, and measurable impact, including:
- Heat loss modelling and hydronic system design
- 2D and 3D floor-plan tooling using LiDAR and computer vision
- Large-scale data ingestion and geospatial analysis
- Offline-first collaborative PWAs
- Hardware integrations, including Bluetooth measurement tools, sensors, and monitoring systems

The engineering approach prioritizes simplicity, symmetry, and efficiency, with complexity driven by real-world problems rather than unnecessary architecture.

Candidates are not expected to know every technology listed, but should have an appetite for full-stack ownership and solving problems end-to-end.

Requirements
The company values impact, judgment, and intent more than formal titles.
Ideal candidates will likely have experience with:
- Modern JavaScript / TypeScript and frontend frameworks
- Backend development and API design
- Relational databases and data modelling
- Solving ambiguous, real-world problems end-to-end
- Mentoring engineers and/or building healthy, high-trust teams
More importantly, they are:
- Product-minded, with a strong interest in understanding real users and solving real problems
- Impact-driven, balancing technical quality with execution speed and pragmatism
- Comfortable with ownership and accountable for outcomes, not just code delivery
- Candid and collaborative, able to challenge ideas constructively, receive feedback well, and prioritize team success over ego
