We’re helping an ambitious fintech startup hire a hands-on Lead Full-Stack Engineer to bring its engineering capability in-house and help build the financial operating system for the next generation.
The company is developing an AI-native platform designed to make high-quality financial guidance accessible to millions of people who are underserved by traditional financial advisers.
The product is already in beta, has a growing US waitlist, and the company is preparing for its next major stage of funding and growth.
This is not a maintenance role.
You’ll initially be expected to get deeply involved in the product and codebase, while gradually taking ownership of the company’s technical direction. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to progress into the CTO role within approximately 12 months and help build out an engineering team of around five people.
The Stack
React • Node.js • Django • AI integrations • Modern cloud infrastructure
You’ll:
- Take technical ownership of a live fintech product as development moves in-house
- Work directly with the founder to turn product and commercial priorities into shipped software
- Build across frontend, backend and platform infrastructure
- Improve development speed, technical quality and product reliability
- Help make architecture and technology decisions as the product scales
- Recruit, lead and develop the wider engineering team
- Shape the company’s long-term technical strategy and AI capabilities

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You are:
- An experienced full-stack engineer who is still highly comfortable writing code
- Strong across React, Node.js and/or Django
- Experienced in building and shipping real products, not simply contributing to isolated tickets
- Capable of making pragmatic architectural decisions in an early-stage environment
- Product-minded and able to communicate effectively with a non-technical founder
- Comfortable operating with autonomy, ambiguity and changing priorities
- Interested in progressing into a technical leadership or CTO-level position
- Based in London, or able to work closely with the founder in London
Experience in fintech, financial services, regulated products or AI-enabled consumer applications would be valuable, but is not essential.
