Join the Exciting Journey at tombola!

We’re looking for a Lead Game Developer to join our brilliant Game Studio team here at tombola. This is a great opportunity to step into a leadership role within a team that builds everything in house. The role has opened up due to an internal promotion, which is always something we love to see at tombola, and now we’re looking for someone ready to take that next step in their career.

You’ll be joining a collaborative studio where you’ll lead a small squad of developers, working closely with designers, product and other stakeholders to deliver brilliant games for our players. Stakeholder management is a big part of the role, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys communicating ideas, bringing people together and helping move projects forward.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys leading people while still staying close to the tech. You’ll be mentoring and coaching developers, helping your squad grow and succeed, while also remaining hands on with development and playing a key role in driving features and projects forward.

If you’ve already been mentoring others, coaching teammates or taking ownership of projects, this could be a fantastic step into a more formal leadership position.

We follow a hybrid way of working, with the team coming together in our Sunderland office three days a week to collaborate, share ideas and spend time with the wider Game Studio. The other two days offer flexibility to work from home.

Find your bounce at tombola! 🎱

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
