The Role
We’re looking for a Lead Gameplay Programmer to join our talented engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead one half of the gameplay engineering group on our AAA fidelity fighting game built in Unreal Engine. You’ll work closely with Designers, Animators, and fellow Engineers to deliver engaging, responsive, and high-quality gameplay systems that bring the game’s vision to life.
You’ll be responsible for one of two key areas of the game—either core combat and player interaction, or broader game progression systems. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical contribution with strategic direction, helping shape both the experience and the development culture of the gameplay team.
This role can be based onsite full time at our Sheffield and/or Leamington Spa office, hybrid or remote.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the gameplay team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Oversee the planning, scoping, and delivery of Gameplay that support the vision of our game.
- Liaise with design and production team to deliver a compelling vision.
- Review and approve technical documentation and architectural decisions.
- Ensure high-quality code and robust player experience through best practices and automated testing.
- Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation in Gameplay development.
- Contribute to the studio’s technical direction and culture of excellence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
