Lead IAM Technical Architect (Inside IR35)

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Lead IAM Technical Architect (Inside IR35) for an 8 Month Remote contract with occasional visits to Swindon.

Role Purpose

UKRI is undertaking a strategic programme to modernise its IAM capabilities and establish identity as a foundational control within a Zero Trust security model. The IAM Solution Architect will lead discovery, design and definition for UKRI's Enterprise Identity project and support the Enterprise Security Architect in defining the organisation’s IAM strategy and roadmap.

The role is accountable for defining the target-state IAM architecture, replacing existing identity governance capabilities and designing modern identity lifecycle management processes. The initial phase of the project will focus on IGA. Later phases will expand scope to include AM, PAM and CIAM for which a phased roadmap for adoption will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate good coverage and practical experience from previous roles in meeting the following responsibilities:

  • Assess current IAM capabilities, processes, technologies and operating models.

  • Conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for simplification, automation, risk reduction and cost optimisation.

  • Design scalable identity governance and administration capabilities including joiner/mover/leaver automation, access provisioning and role and entitlement management.

  • Own designs through delivery, reworking as necessary to get the solution live and realise benefits.

  • Support technology evaluation, solution selection, procurement activities and business case development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
