Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Croydon | Salford | Sheffield | Southport | Glasgow (hybrid)
Salary: £62,109 (National) or £66,229 (Croydon) Skills allowance of up to £18,291 (pending assessment)

🚀 Job Summary 🚀
The Home Office processes on average 10 million emails per week. This is a technical specialist role, requiring you to:
- Lead and act as the subject matter expert (SME) for messaging and hygiene services
- Implement and maintain compliance in line with Government standards, utilising the Microsoft 365 Purview suite
- Manage line management of infrastructure engineers
As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
- Assume responsibility for managing third-party provision of infrastructure services
- Provide expertise in delivering architectural solutions for infrastructure services throughout the service lifecycle
- Oversee programmes and projects and collaborate with Technical Architects to translate designs into operational environments
- Assist Technical Architects in operationalising designs
- Lead and direct infrastructure teams to:
- Build, manage, transition, support, and maintain solutions
- Ensure alignment with departmental policy
- Maintain a feedback loop with service support for continuous improvement
- Manage workforce planning, budgeting, technology roadmaps, projects, and tasks

Managing and delivering enterprise email services within time, cost, and quality targets.
- Demonstrable experience in:
- Configuration/implementation/management of Exchange Online and on-premises. (ITO Services)
- Demonstrable experience in:

Mail Hygiene expertise:
- Configuration, management, and customisation of mail hygiene solutions in an enterprise environment. (Home Office Information Security Standards)

Advising on future technology changes and innovations.
- Defining best practice for network improvements and information security with a focus on email services. (Design, Standards & Network Operations)

Experience or knowledge of:
- Mail routing (relay, connectors, transport, security, and hybrid environments). (Testing Portfolio – TEST)

Ability to lead the technology team, enforcing good engineering principles from architecture through to development. (User Services Improvement and Procurement – USUP)

Leadership responsibilities:
- Direct teams responsible for delivery.
- Build strong cross-team partnerships across:
- Various locations

- Support the integrity of email services.
