New Exciting opportunity for the role Senior Java Developer

Location: London (1 day from Office)

Contract Duration: 1 Year

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

The Role

This role will have a significant impact on delivering innovative solutions for one of the leading retailers in the UK, driving digital transformation and enhancing customer experiences. You’ll work on projects that leverage cutting-edge technologies such as microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms, contributing to scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.

Your Profile

Essential skills/experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 21/25 and Spring Boot.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing microservices-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong experience developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
  • Experience managing infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Strong knowledge of MongoDB, Mongo Atlas, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control using GitHub.
  • Experience with application monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation using tools such as New Relic and Bosun.

  • Experience working within large-scale retail or eCommerce environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture patterns and distributed system design.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools and modern software development practices.
  • Experience with performance testing and non-functional testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of security best practices for cloud and microservices-based applications.
  • Experience mentoring developers and contributing to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps delivery methodologies.
