Lead Java Developer – Digital Engineering Team

The Digital Engineering team at ITG specialises in building world-class, enterprise-grade digital applications for high-profile clients. We follow mature Agile methodologies and leverage cutting-edge technologies.

About ITG’s Digital Engineering
You’ll join a team consisting of:
- Business Analysts
- Scrum Masters / Project Managers
- Solution Architects
- Lead Frontend & Backend Developers
- Developers
- Testers (Manual & Automated)
Key Responsibilities
Our Lead Java Developers are responsible for:
- Designing, building & maintaining web applications for clients, including :
- Content Management Systems
- Complex rules engines
- Financial calculators
- Deferred revenue systems
- Working with modern Java technologies and integrating AI into daily engineering practices.
- Leading from a technical standpoint, but also providing mentorship and guidance to the team.
- Supporting Agile/Sprint principles—planning, meetings, reviews, and diluted releases.
- Collaborating closely with account directors, creatives, and clients to ensure timely delivery.
- Defining development strategies, amalgamating research on emerging market trends.
- Optifying code reviews, task estimations, and technical documentation (including AI tool prompts).
- Line management responsibilities, including team development and performance.

Requirements
Essential
✔ Proven Java experience (Spring preferred) ✔ Strong problem-solving skills—ability to debug, optimise, and lead development ✔ Experience mentoring junior engineers + managing teams ✔ Deep understanding of full-stack principles and web technologies ✔ Experience crafting clean, maintainable documentation ✔ Awareness of AI limitations and ethical use in tech ✔ Fluency in code reviews, Git, and Agile workflows
