About This Role
A major financial services platform is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of high-impact, business-critical systems built on a modern Java microservices architecture. This hands-on role involves shaping core service design and delivery, collaborating with architecture and business stakeholders to build resilient, production-grade software. You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional team with responsibility for platform evolution—not just task-based delivery.

- Build and evolve scalable services within a distributed architecture, supporting key business applications.
- Lead end-to-end delivery, from design through deployment and ongoing optimisation.
- Drive engineering standards across:

- Reliability
- Partner with architects and senior engineers to shape platform direction and design decisions.
- Contribute to automation across:
- Build
- Test
- Deployment pipelines
- Balance rigorous design principles with pragmatic experimentation and prototyping when needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong technical background:
- Experience building server-side systems in Java in production.
- Proven track record delivering robust, well-tested software for complex business-critical platforms.
- Technical depth:
- Solid understanding of microservices principles and distributed-system design.
- Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and modern workload management.
- Collaborative & practical:
- Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, deliverable technical solutions.
