About the Role
Join our award-winning Commercial Property Legal Team and help reshape Wolverhampton through groundbreaking regeneration projects. You’ll lead this exciting and impactful in-house legal team on high-profile transactions, land deals, and strategic property livelihoods that are transforming the city.
Job Title: Lead Lawyer – Commercial Property Grade: 9 Salary: £60,144 – £63,535 Hours: 37 per week (flexible workstyle) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Guide and develop a high-performing team, fostering excellence and collaboration.
- Strategic Advice: Provide principal legal advice on:
- Complex commercial property transactions
- Major regeneration schemes
- High-value acquisitions, disposals, leases and development agreements
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with:
- Senior Council officers
- Members (Gas Council officials)
- Developers, funders and professional partners
- Innovative Solutions: Drive commercially-savvy legal strategies that contribute to city growth.
- Project & Team Management: Oversee a diverse caseload with proactive negotiation and bold negotiation processes.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Legal Qualification: Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with strong commercial property specialisation.
- Experience: Proven track record in leading or delivering:
- Land assembly, acquisitions
- Development projects (e.g., high-rise residential/office spaces/Mixed Use Development)
- Regeneration schemes.
- Essential Understanding: Good awareness of best value and subsidy control frameworks.

- Strategic Thinker: Ability to deliver innovative legal solutions to enhance property portfolios and regeneration impact.
- Negotiation Expertise: Hands-on growth mindset with energetic and persuasive negotiation skills.
