About the Role
Lead Software Developer opportunity specialising in Thermo Fisher SampleManager (LIMS)
- Salary: £535 per day via Umbrella
- Working arrangement: Remote
- Contract duration: Initial contract until the end of the year
- Security clearance: BPSS Clearance required
- Focus: Upgrade and enhancement of a highly customised laboratory information management system (LIMS)

Our client is delivering a major programme centred on the development, enhancement, and upgrade of a critical Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This is an opportunity to join a highly specialised team focused on complex, regulated systems supporting essential laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Software Developer, you will:
- Develop and customise Thermo Fisher SampleManager
- Configure workflows, entities, forms, reports, and dashboards
- Develop integrations with laboratory instruments and enterprise systems
- Build and support REST/SOAP and API integrations
- Write and optimise SQL queries and database components
- Support migration activities from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with laboratory users and technical stakeholders
- Support testing, validation, and deployment activities
- Produce technical documentation and maintain system governance
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Core Experience
- Commercial experience developing with Thermo Fisher SampleManager (v12.1 or v21.3)
- Strong SampleManager configuration and customisation experience
- VGL (Development Language) development skills
- Strong C#/.NET development proficiencies
- In-depth SQL and relational database knowledge
- Experience integrating enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs and web services
