Company Description

StopCar Garage is a fully equipped workshop based in Mallusk, Newtownabbey, just outside Belfast. We provide servicing, diagnostics and mechanical repairs for cars, vans, commercial vehicles, and customer fleets.

The garage is already established, fully fitted out, and ready to operate. We are now looking for an experienced, driven mechanic who can take ownership of the workshop and manage its day-to-day operations, while maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Role Description

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced mechanic who has always wanted to run their own garage but does not want the financial risk or the stress of setting everything up from scratch.

As Lead Mechanic / Workshop Manager, you will have the freedom and responsibility to manage the workshop as if it were your own. You will organise the daily workload, carry out diagnostics and repairs, oversee other mechanics, and ensure every vehicle leaves the workshop completed to a high standard.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the workshop
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and general repairs
  • Working on cars, vans, commercial vehicles, and fleet vehicles
  • Allocating and prioritising jobs within the workshop
  • Supervising, supporting, and mentoring other mechanics
  • Checking completed work and carrying out test drives when required
  • Identifying parts and providing accurate job requirements
  • Maintaining strong workmanship, safety, and quality standards
  • Keeping the workshop organised, productive, and properly maintained
  • Helping improve workshop systems and processes as the business grows

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will not be expected to handle everything alone. StopCar will support the administrative side of the operation, including marketing, customer enquiries, bookings, paperwork, and general customer service. This allows you to concentrate on what you do best: managing the workshop, leading the team, and getting vehicles repaired properly.

  • Previous experience as a senior mechanic, lead technician, foreman, or workshop manager
  • The ability to work on a wide range of cars and vans
  • Experience with servicing, brakes, suspension, steering, clutches, timing belts, timing chains, and general mechanical repairs
  • Confidence diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and performance-related faults
  • The ability to organise jobs, manage time, and keep the workshop moving efficiently
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support other mechanics
  • A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach to customers and colleagues
  • A relevant automotive qualification or completed apprenticeship
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A practical, hands-on attitude and a genuine interest in helping grow the garage

The premises, equipment, and business support are already in place. We need the right person to take charge of the workshop, build a strong team, and help take StopCar Garage forward.
