Responsibilities
The role will include:
- Mechanical engineering project oversight for our USV programs (MARS)
- Management of the specific mechanical engineering project team
- Creation and development of work breakdown schedules to manage the engineering team towards project-specific goals and deadlines
- Reporting progress and identifying strengths and weaknesses in delivery
- Supporting the Head of Mechanical to provide insight into the business strategic vision
- Mentoring and supporting the development of Junior Mechanical Engineers
- Serving as a key reviewer, with both peer-to-peer and gate reviews
- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of company legislative policies, HSE, and HR
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of industry experience in maritime or high-performance engineering
- 3+ years of experience leading a team
- Proficiency in creating and reviewing components, sub-assemblies, and General Arrangements in 3D CAD
- Ability to create and review 2D drawings in conjunction with BS8888
- Proven experience in a fast-paced, challenging engineering sector
- Experience delivering complex projects
- Experience in leading a cohesive and effective team
- Ability to empower engineers and identify growth opportunities
- Detailed understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
- Experience with conflicting systems and application of critical thinking
- Experience with autonomous craft/systems and small boats/surface craft
