Lead Mechanical Fitter
Would you like to lead the mechanical function at a major bulk-handling terminal? Do you want to use your expertise to improve reliability, safety and performance across a wide range of heavy industrial equipment?
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Fitter to join our Peel Ports Logistics Team on a two year FTC based in New Holland and help us keep the world moving!
Your Role
As Lead Mechanical Fitter, you’ll take ownership of the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical assets including conveyors, bucket elevators, hoppers, silos and dust-control systems. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you’ll ensure maintenance programmes, EHS actions and plant performance align with wider business objectives.
You’ll collaborate with operations, electrical and EHS teams while overseeing maintenance strategies, driving reliability improvements and supporting preventative and predictive maintenance. You’ll respond to breakdowns, provide technical leadership to the mechanical team and champion a strong culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
You’ll bring strong mechanical skills, excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of bulk-handling systems. Good communication, the ability to prioritise under pressure, basic IT literacy and confidence working at height or in confined spaces are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
