Job Advert Lead MRI Radiographer Duchy Hospital, Truro
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
As a Lead MRI Radiographer you will manage a small team of MR radiographers ensuring that the care delivered is of the highest possible clinical standards, with excellent customer service. You will also be the MR Responsible Person which requires ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements are met including having accurate and up to date local rules are in place, staff training and supervision, and service development.
At Duchy Hospital, the opportunities to develop yourself, and the services we provide are abundant. As a hospital undertaking cardiac services, previous experience in Cardiac and Breast MRI is highly desirable as well as experience with Siemens MRI equipment. The service is currently running 8am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. As the service expands this is likely to change to involve longer days and weekends. There is a small commitment to MRI on-call from home on two consecutive nights per month, shared across the MRI team.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated radiographer with a desire to progress and enhance their supervisory and clinical skills. Previous experience in MRI (min. 2 Years) is essential. The successful candidate must be willing to take part in our extended evening and weekend MRI service. This post may involve supporting the general X-ray dept so current competence in this area is an advantage. The role will include supporting junior staff and contribute to the training of students, as well as resolving day to day issues related to workload management and patient queries.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality diagnostic imaging service for a varied caseload
- Be highly proficient in the use of all equipment within scope of practice
- Supervise and develop junior colleagues
- Accountable for MRI safety in line with local rules
- To work within national guidance and own scope of practice, in accordance with the code of conduct set out by the HCPC
- Participate in departmental audits and Quality Assurance programme
- Ensure equipment is safe and fit for purpose and, can report faults in line with Ramsay Health policy
- Competency in IV cannulation is essential
- Comply with all Ramsay Health policies and procedures
- Ensure all records are maintained in line with statutory and organisational requirements
- Participate in on call rota (must be able to attend site within 30 minutes of call activation)

What you'll bring with you:
- Have a BSc degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent)
- A postgraduate qualification and/or high levels of technical knowledge (desirable)
- Possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a wide variety MRI scans (ideally including Cardiac, Small Bowel Enterography, mpMRI Prostate, Gynae, Breast, MSK)
- Have an understanding and empathetic approach to patients and colleagues alike
- Be respectful towards all individuals
- Have a proactive and forward thinking approach to work
- Ensure a service of the highest quality care is delivered with sensitivity and compassion
- Demonstrate excellent communication and team working abilities
