Lead Occupational Therapist - In-patients Mental Health

Occupational Therapy Team Lead – Band 7 (Permanent, Part-Time)

The Role

An Occupational Therapist (Band 7) has been invited to apply for the position of Occupational Therapy Team Lead—an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within the NHS.

Key Objectives:

  • Provide strategic leadership to a team of skilled occupational therapy staff.
  • Drive service development and innovation across inpatient and community services.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.

Note: As per Home Office requirements, all other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility prior to Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) consideration.

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services across six inpatient wards.
  • Collaborative Management: Work closely with Inpatient Service Managers, Lead Nurses, Senior Charge Nurses, and other management teams to enhance service delivery and drive continuous improvement.
  • Innovation & Service Development: Lead the development and implementation of a communities occupational therapy service, identifying opportunities for service enhancements and introducing new, innovative approaches.
  • Staff Supervision: Manage and supervise a team of occupational therapy professionals.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Engage with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A degree or recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current professional registration.

Experience:

  • Significant post-registration experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Probable evidence of a clinical leadership role or demonstrated management and supervision abilities.

Competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills; experience in managing teams or projects.
  • Commitment to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across changing organisational environments.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking in occupational therapy and service improvement.
