Vacancy: Band 7 Occupational Therapist (Stroke Rehabilitation)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Band 7 Occupational Therapist with expertise in stroke rehabilitation to join our supportive community-based team.
The role will involve leading a specialist multi-disciplinary stroke rehabilitation service for adults in community settings. Working closely with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, dietitians, nurses and allied health professionals, you will deliver goal-focused, time-limited interventions in patients’ homes and other appropriate environments.
The team collaborates with Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and third-sector partners, such as the Stroke Association, to support patients through the entire stroke pathway—from hospital discharge to home.
This is an exciting opportunity as we implement a new intensive rehabilitation pathway to enable earlier hospital discharges while maintaining our current service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Change Management: You will be instrumental in designing and implementing the new intensive rehabilitation pathway, guiding the team through organisational transition while ensuring continuous service delivery.
- Supervision & Mentorship: Line-manage Band 6 Occupational Therapists, mentor unregistered staff, and provide interdisciplinary support to colleagues across different disciplines.
- Clinical Leadership: Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills in managing change, with a proven track record in supporting colleagues through transitions.
- Specialist Clinical Practice: Bring highly specialised knowledge of stroke rehabilitation and hands-on experience supporting multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Service Development: Engage with service development projects, fostering innovation within the team and organisation.
- Weekend Working: Some weekend coverage may be required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
