Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced acute care Pharmacist to play a pivotal role in advancing digital medicines at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).

This senior role will be central to the implementation, development, optimisation and future direction of our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system and other systems for digital medicines as we progress through a period of significant transformation.

You will provide senior clinical pharmacy expertise and oversight to support system design, implementation and the development of new, digitally enabled ways of working. Your contribution will be instrumental in ensuring that ePMA supports safer, more efficient and more integrated care across our services.

We are seeking someone who is solution-focused, collaborative, with a strong interest in digital innovation and improving patient safety through better use of technology.

This senior clinical informatics position offers the opportunity to shape ePMA across SaTH, influencing medicines optimisation, quality of care and the Trust’s digital maturity. You will join a supportive organisation with excellent pharmacy, digital and clinical teams, giving you both the autonomy and the backing to make a meaningful impact across our acute services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder leads the design, implementation, optimisation and governance of the ePMA and other digital medicine systems across The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), combining advanced clinical pharmacy expertise with digital leadership to ensure high-quality, safe and efficient medicines management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This role is central to supporting the Trust’s digital transformation agenda and the Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP), ensuring that digital medicines processes are robust, standardised and aligned with future models of care.

The post holder is responsible for maintaining and updating the medicines template database, developing and reviewing ePMA policies, and ensuring that all content is evidence-based, accurate and optimised for safe use. Quality assurance responsibilities include auditing templates, order sets and workflows, monitoring compliance, and ensuring that ePMA functionality supports safe and efficient prescribing and administration practices.

The post holder will also review incidents, risks and user feedback related to digital medicines processes, providing expert analysis and reporting to drive continuous improvement, reduce variation and strengthen patient safety across the Trust.

We believe that compassionate care sits at the heart of everything we do. Every member of our team — clinical or non-clinical — plays a vital role in ensuring that patients, families, and colleagues are treated with dignity, empathy, and respect at all times.

We expect all staff to demonstrate compassion not only through their words, but through their actions: by listening attentively, communicating clearly and kindly, and recognising individual needs, feelings, and circumstances of those in our care.

Effective communication is central to safe and high-quality healthcare. We value colleagues who take the time to understand others, explain information in a meaningful way, and respond to concerns with patience and understanding.
