Key Responsibilities of the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the existing OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy) service, ensuring its growth and development.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen service delivery.
- Monitor and report on service performance, adhering to clinical governance principles.
- Prioritise patient safety and experience in service design and improvement.
Criteria for the Role
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Essential Criteria
- Degree: Master’s in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
- Registration: Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Certificate/Diploma: Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent Ȋexperience.
- Advanced Competencies: Advanced Stage 2 competencies in RPS (Royal Pharmaceutical Society) Advanced Pharmacy Framework (Domains 1 & 2).
- Multi-Disciplinary Experience: Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-professional team.
- Specialty Knowledge: Strong understanding of clinical pharmacy services, acquired from practice in a suitable specialty.
- Audit & Evaluation: Experience in conducting audit and evaluative work.
- Teaching & Mentoring: Experience in teaching, tutoring, and supervising.
- Change Management: History of implementing meaningful change, including change management.
- Guidelines & Procedures: Development and implementation of clinical guidelines and service protocols.

Desirable Criteria
- Management: Management qualification or relevant experience.
- Postgraduate Study: MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
- Independent Prescribing: Independent prescriber qualification.
- Broader Advanced Skills: Competency for Advanced Stage 1 - 2 in RPS Framework (Domains 3-5).
- Leadership: Leadership qualification or experience.
- Healthcare Awareness: Sound understanding of healthcare priorities and political drivers.
- Medicines Information: Formal training in medicines information.
- Project Management: Project management training or experience.
