About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Lead Pharmacy Technician to provide professional leadership for medicines management across our Secure Estates Healthcare Services.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop pharmacy practice within a challenging and rewarding environment, working alongside pharmacy technicians, nurses, GPs, operational and clinical leaders to ensure safe and efficient use of medicines.
As a Registered Clinician across Wetherby YOI, Adel Beck and Aldine House, you’ll support vulnerable young people in varied, challenging, and rewarding work. Collaboration extends to key partners, including the prison, education teams, social workers, Youth Offending Service, and the Looked After Children’s Team, ensuring the highest standard of care.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Healthcare Team across secure estates, supporting highly vulnerable and complex young people.
This role is ideal for someone ready for a new challenge, eager to contribute to service development, and confident in working within a multidisciplinary team. If you want to grow your skills in a setting where no two days are the same, this is an excellent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will help deliver a safe, legal, and high-quality prison pharmacy service. Core duties include:
- Lead and coordinate the Pharmacy Technician workforce across secure estates.
- Provide expert advice on medicines management, medicines optimisation, and medicines governance.
- Lead on the safe management of medicines, including controlled drugs, storage, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor medicines management policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Lead medicines-related incidents, identify trends, and implement improvements to enhance patient safety.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare teams, commissioners, and partners to continually improve pharmacy services.
- Provide professional supervision, coaching, and development for Pharmacy Technicians.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, and induction of pharmacy staff.
The Pharmacy Technician team operates from 07:30 to 20:30, seven days a week, across 13 shifts in every 28-day period.
