Role Overview
The Lead Photographer will report to the Studio Manager and oversee e-commerce model and still-life product shoots for George, including occasional ad hoc social and campaign shoots. The role requires a management-ready photographer, as the ** Photography team** will report into this position.
Key Responsibilities
Photography & Production
- Produce high-quality photography at volume in line with the client’s in-house style guide and approved lighting set-ups.
- Lead all e-commerce photography, including:
- Model shoots (menswear & womenswear)
- Still-life product photography
- Shoot products efficiently while maintaining premium visual standards under tight deadlines.
- Ensure accurate representation of:
- Fit
- Fabric texture
- Colour
- Garment detail
- Maintain visual consistency across product categories and seasons.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and output.
- Independently set up, adjust, and de-rig lighting as required.
- Prepare the work set, ensuring:
- All equipment is fully functional
- Correct maintenance and preparedness for shoots

Autonomy & Technical Skills
- Work independently without a Digi Operator, handling:
- File naming
- Cropping
- Image processing -File sharing with the retouching department
- Stay up to date with current e-commerce fashion photography trends and lighting styles to maintain modern, commercially relevant output.
- Create lighting lists for ad hoc shoots.
- Take an active interest in product knowledge and trade information.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a technical mentor, providing:
- Clear guidance to the Still Life Photographer
- Hands-on support to maintain quality, efficiency, and adherence to George brand guidelines
- Develop and share best practices within the team.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 5+ years’ experience in professional studio photography.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- E-commerce model photography
- Still-life product photography
- Technical mastery in composition, lighting, capture, and processing.
- Experience directing and receiving direction, working both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Professional experience in a high-volume fashion brand photography setting.
- Expert knowledge of:
- Capture One
- Lighting environments
- Photography equipment
- Studio safety best practice
- Self-motivated, with ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Basic Photoshop knowledge.
- Proficiency with:
- Canon camera systems
- Tethered shooting
- Profoto lighting
- Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing priorities.
- Commercially aware with strong brand sensitivity.
- Familiarity with post-production and retouching workflows.
