Lead Physiotherapist (Men's Under-21s) — Category 1 Academy

Full-Time | Permanent

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to lead medical provision for a Category 1 academy's Men's Under-21 squad.

Bromby & Partners are supporting a Category 1 football academy in their search for a Lead Physiotherapist to take responsibility for medical provision within the Men's Under-21 squad. Working as part of a multidisciplinary performance team, you will lead the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of players in the Professional Development Phase, ensuring high standards of care and effective return-to-play processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead physiotherapy provision for the Men's Under-21 squad, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation
  • Provide pitch-side medical cover for Men's U21 training and fixtures
  • Design and deliver individualized, criteria-led rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes
  • Work closely with physical performance, coaching, and sports science staff
  • Oversee medical screening, injury risk profiling, and player monitoring
  • Maintain accurate medical records in line with club and governing body standards
  • Support player education around injury prevention and wellbeing

Essential Criteria

  • BSc in Physiotherapy, CSP membership, and HCPC registration
  • Valid FA ATMMiF qualification (or willingness to obtain) and FA Safeguarding qualification
  • Experience within a sporting environment, ideally professional football or an academy setting
  • Strong MSK assessment and rehabilitation skills, with experience delivering return-to-play programmes
  • Confident working within a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence, or ability to travel as required

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within a Professional Development Phase (U18/U21) environment
  • MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine, or a related field
  • Understanding of the EPPP framework
  • Experience mentoring other medical or support staff
