Lead Platform Cloud Security Architect (GCP)
📍 Sheffield or Birmingham, UK (Hybrid)
HSBC is seeking a Lead Platform Cloud Security Architect with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to help define, secure, and scale the bank's enterprise GCP Foundation Platform.
This is a strategic, hands-on architecture role focused on enabling secure cloud adoption at scale. You'll work at the heart of HSBC's cloud transformation, defining security standards, governance, and reusable patterns that allow engineering teams to build securely on GCP.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the security architecture for HSBC's GCP Foundation Platform.
- Define and implement cloud security standards, controls, and best practices.
- Conduct threat modelling and security risk assessments across GCP services.
- Develop hardened cloud configurations and secure-by-design patterns.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, and cybersecurity teams to drive secure cloud adoption.
- Provide technical leadership on cloud identity, privileged access management, governance, and security controls.
- Influence enterprise-wide cloud security strategy across a large-scale global environment.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Cloud Security Architect or similar role with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Deep understanding of GCP security services, architecture, and governance.
- Expertise in IAM, Privileged Access Management, and cloud security controls.
- Strong experience with threat modelling, security assessments, and vulnerability management.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps, application security, and data security.
- Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
- Understanding of Kubernetes and container security.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence engineering and architecture teams.
- Experience operating within large enterprise environments.

Location
Hybrid working model with offices in Sheffield or Birmingham.
