Location: Remote-first (UK-based)
Salary: Up to £120,000 + benefits

Join a growth-stage technology company investing in the next phase of their engineering and platform capability. As they scale, they're building out a dedicated platform function to support secure, reliable, and developer-friendly delivery across the organisation.
Role Overview
This is an opportunity for a lead/principal-level Platform Engineer to help build a secure, reliable, developer-friendly platform function that enables engineering teams to deliver quickly and safely. You'll start as a hands-on senior technical contributor, laying the foundations for a future platform engineering capability, with the role expected to evolve as they scale.
This is a platform enablement role, not traditional ops support - focused on automation, operational maturity, resilience, and developer experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and platform tooling
- Improve reliability, observability, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipelines
- Build reusable platform capabilities (e.g. event streaming, storage/provisioning patterns, secrets management)
- Improve developer experience through self-service tooling, golden paths, and reduced operational friction
- Partner with security/engineering leadership to operationalise RBAC, access governance, and compliance requirements
- Support incident response, monitoring, and operational SLAs
- Mentor engineers and help shape long-term platform strategy and standards
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong background in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure
- Deep experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD, Linux, containerisation, and Kubernetes
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or streaming platforms
- Working knowledge of RBAC, IAM, secrets management, and operational security practices, ideally in a regulated environment
- Strong automation/scripting ability and systems-thinking approach
- Comfortable operating in a scaling, growth-stage environment
