Job Description
At Thrive Childcare and Education, we put our children first—but we look after you too. As a Lead Practitioner, you are a key part of our nursery team, supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing while helping lead best practice within a safe and nurturing nursery environment.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioner to join our team at Thrive Teviot House, Edinburgh. This role is ideal for an experienced Early Years Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, or Nursery Nurse looking to take the next step in their childcare career within a supportive and forward-thinking childcare setting.

As a Lead Practitioner, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality early years education and care, ensuring every child has the best start in life while supporting and guiding colleagues across the nursery team.
Key Responsibilities - Lead Practitioner
As a Lead Practitioner, you will:
- Support children’s learning, development, and school readiness
- Lead by example to deliver outstanding childcare and education
- Support and mentor Early Years Practitioners within the nursery team
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers
- Observe, assess, and track children’s progress
- Work collaboratively with management and colleagues to maintain high standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating nursery environment
- Support the implementation of nursery policies and procedures
- Continue your professional development as a Lead Practitioner

Requirements
To be eligible for this role applicants must have either minimum of HNC Level 7 or SVQ Level 3 in Early Years
- Previous experience working as a Lead Practitioner, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, or Nursery Nurse (preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A caring, enthusiastic, and proactive approach
- A passion for supporting high-quality childcare and mentoring others
