Lead Practitioner – Robotics
Location: King Edward VII’s Hospital, 5-10 Beaumont Street, Marylebone, London W1G 6AA Contract: Permanent (37.5 hours per week) Work Pattern: Monday to Saturday Hours: Various shift patterns available Salary & Benefits: From £65,000, plus excellent benefits
About the Role
King Edward VII’s Hospital is a 56-bed private hospital in Marylebone, delivering consultant-led care across elective, day-case, and inpatient surgery.
We provide a broad range of high-quality surgical services—including orthopaedic procedures, women’s health/gynaecology, urology, and general surgery—along with minimally invasive techniques, efficient patient pathways, and rapid recovery protocols. This integrated system also covers endoscopy, ophthalmic surgery, dermatology, and minor interventions.
As the Lead Practitioner in Robotics, you will play a critical role in developing our specialised robotic service, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Advocacy
- Act as an independent holistic practitioner, delivering high-quality care to patients during the pre- and post-operative periods.
- Champion the patient experience and ensure safe, efficient pathways, communicating clearly and advocating for patient needs.

Clinical Expertise
- Be fully trained and assessed in robotic systems for urology, gynaecology, and colorectal surgery.
- Assist across all robotics-assisted surgical specialities, liaising with surgical teams to ensure seamless patient care.

Assessment & Care Coordination
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge in robotic procedures and share best practices to improve clinical outcomes.
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and document individualised care plans, including clinician-led clinics under agreed protocols.

Service Development & Improvement
- Drive service innovation by identifying opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Lead practice development initiatives—such as protocols, policies, and guidelines—to support best practice.
- Monitor and assess training programmes with clinical staff, reinforcing continuous learning.

Support & Safeguarding
- Speak to and educate patients, relatives, and carers on robotic-assisted procedures.
- Help devise self-management strategies for better patient recovery.
- Safeguard the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring policy compliance.

Education & Proficiency
- Provide expert training, education, and assessments to support team members in mastering new techniques.
- Stay at the forefront of evidence-based practice, incorporating advancements in robotic surgery.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Essential:
- RN (Registered Nurse) – NMC Registration (current and in good standing)
- ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) – Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Perioperative Practice – HPC Registration
- Certified teaching/assessing qualification (values education and mentoring)
- Current experience in robots assisted surgery/ Fanny Aid (SFA) – Desirable but helpful
- Scopes handling skills for minimally invasive procedures
- Ongoing professional development (up-to-date CPD portfolio)
