🔍 Lead Product Engineer | High Quality SaaS Platforms | Remote First | Up to circa £80,000 + Benefits
The Role
We are recruiting for a Lead Product Engineer to join a growing SaaS business, specialising in building large-scale, international software platforms used by customers globally.
Unlike typical engineering roles that prioritise coding alone, this position is uniquely focused on product thinking, customer empathy, and leveraging modern engineering approaches to solve real-world problems.
Why This Role Is Different
The business is pioneering an AI-first engineering model, embedding tools like Cursor into daily development workflows—though technical AI expertise isn’t a requirement. What matters most is your ability to:
- Deepen customer understanding of pain points.
- Define elegant solutions to those challenges.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate high-quality delivery without compromising robustness.
The strongest candidates are those who: ✔ Thrive on problem-solving over feature-building. ✔ Embrace a collaborative environment where engineering decisions are made collectively. ✔ Favour craftsmanship—building quality in the first iteration over rushed, technically debt-heavy releases.
Key Responsibilities
Core Focus Areas
- Customer Collision Tasks: Actively engage with-users to uncover pain points and translate them into clear requirements.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Use modern tools (e.g., Cursor) to iterate faster and improve efficiency while maintaining technical excellence.
- Technical Leadership: Guide engineering direction by:
- Defining clear technical specifications and architecture decisions.
- Leading collaborative technical discussions across teams.
- Balancing innovation with scalability, performance, and security.
- Quality Emphasis: Prioritise well-tested, modular, and maintainable solutions over "good enough" workarounds.
- Corporate Delivery: Shape ongoing product vision by assessing market needs and technical feasibility holistically.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
