Product Manager – Managing Consultant (AI & Digital Transformation)

Location: London, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow (Hybrid)

Travel Requirement: Candidates must be willing to travel to client sites and workshops as required by project needs. Typical travel is approximately 1–2 times per month, although this can vary depending on the engagement. Client work is primarily delivered across London, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.

About the Role

Our client is a leading digital transformation consultancy helping organisations solve complex challenges through the application of technology, data, design, and AI.

They are seeking a Product Manager – Managing Consultant to lead product strategy and delivery across major transformation programmes. This role combines product leadership, agile delivery, client consulting, AI innovation, business development, and people management.

The successful candidate will bring significant experience leading digital products, managing client stakeholders, developing consulting propositions, and delivering measurable business outcomes. They will also have a strong understanding of AI, Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) and be able to identify opportunities where these technologies can create genuine value.

This is a leadership position requiring both people management experience and the ability to influence senior client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and shape product vision, strategy, roadmaps and delivery priorities.
  • Ensure customer needs, business objectives and technical considerations are translated into actionable delivery plans.
  • Own and prioritise product backlogs, balancing commercial value, risk and feasibility.
  • Drive outcome-focused product delivery through agile methodologies.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across discovery, delivery and live service phases.

AI & Emerging Technology

  • Identify opportunities for AI, Generative AI and emerging technologies to solve business and user challenges.
  • Lead AI discovery activities, experimentation, proofs of concept and pilot initiatives.
  • Work closely with architecture, engineering, data and AI specialists to deliver AI-enabled products and services.
  • Establish measurable success criteria for AI initiatives and ensure business value is realised.
  • Promote responsible AI adoption and best practices across client engagements.

Client & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, product strategy sessions and executive-level discussions.
  • Influence decision-making and help clients navigate complex transformation challenges.
  • Communicate product performance, risks, dependencies and opportunities clearly and effectively.

Agile Delivery Leadership

  • Lead agile ceremonies and delivery governance activities.
  • Ensure requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and prioritised.
  • Support delivery teams in managing dependencies, risks and delivery challenges.
  • Foster high-performing, collaborative team environments.

People Management

  • Line manage, mentor and coach Product Managers, Product Owners or Consultants.
  • Support performance management, career development and capability growth.
  • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding and talent development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain a strong product management community and culture.

Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Lead or contribute to proposals, bids, RFP responses and client presentations.
  • Support proposition development and go-to-market offerings.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, practice development and internal capability building.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and expansion.

Essential Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in Product Management, Digital Product Delivery or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience leading complex digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience working in consulting, professional services or highly client-facing environments.
  • Strong track record of delivering user-centred digital products and services.

AI Experience (Mandatory)

  • Hands-on experience delivering AI-enabled products, services or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI product delivery and enterprise AI adoption.
  • Experience leading AI discovery, proof of concept, experimentation and pilot programmes.
  • Ability to identify and prioritise AI opportunities that generate measurable business outcomes.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles and governance considerations.

Leadership Experience (Mandatory)

  • Previous line management experience.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.

Product & Delivery

  • Extensive knowledge of Agile, Scrum and modern product management practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with design, engineering, data and business teams.
  • Ability to make strategic prioritisation decisions aligned to business value.

Desirable Experience

  • Public Sector and Government Digital Service (GDS) experience.
  • Knowledge of GDS Service Standards and user-centred design principles.
  • Experience in secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Agile, Product Management, Scrum or SAFe certifications.
  • Experience developing consulting propositions and service offerings.

Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced Product Manager with a consulting mindset, strong leadership capability and a passion for AI-driven transformation. You are comfortable operating with senior stakeholders, managing teams, shaping propositions and translating emerging technologies into practical business outcomes.

Please note: Candidates must have both demonstrable AI product experience and prior line management experience. A minimum of 7 years' relevant product management experience is required.
