Invecta Group has been engaged by an ambitious MGA to recruit a Senior Underwriter to build and lead its Professional Indemnity proposition within a growing Professional & Financial Lines practice. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new line from the ground up, with a clear path to a Head of PI role as the book and team develop.
The Role
You will act as the go-to PI underwriter for the business, initially focusing on hard-to-place and large-ticket risks in emerging territories, before broadening the book over time. You will work closely with the Director of Professional & Financial Lines to define underwriting appetite, build broker relationships, and develop a multi-year plan to scale the portfolio. This is a front-line, broker-facing role suited to someone who wants to originate and grow business, not simply manage an existing book.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
