This position is based in Birmingham, West Midlands at least one day per fortnight, with 90% working from home - please ensure you're happy to come to Birmingham twice per month before applying.
Lead Project Controller
Required for a leading project-focused construction group operating in the energy sector. The business is part of a global organisation and regularly handles projects in the scale of £100m to £300m in size, and this position will be responsible for a portfolio of c.£200m, growing to responsibility of more than £500m across multiple countries within two years, and taking on a regional Head of Project Control position for an international programme.
As the Lead Project Controller, you will be a senior figurehead in the project controllership function, partnering with the project operations team and group finance. This role will step up into a Regional Head of Project Control role within two years, at which point you'll inherit the far larger portfolio of projects (and team of Controllers) to manage.

The Lead Project Controller will be responsible for:
- Full financial reporting for projects (scale of £50-200m) throughout the entire project life cycle
- Business partnering project managers to communicate financial and commercial position, and driving improved performance across the portfolio of projects
- Management of project cash flow forecasts and profitability analysis
- Conducting monthly project reviews and leading appraisal meetings with project managers
- Management of currency hedging, bonds, invoicing and tax reporting, supported by the group finance function
- Regular financial planning and analysis to support decision-making for the project team
- Supporting the commercial team with decision support around contract management and partnering with customers, partners and suppliers

The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACMA or ACA) with experience as either a Senior Project Controller or Lead Project Controller, working on projects at a similar scale as these
- Experience managing the finances throughout the entire project life cycle
- A strong business partner with a history working alongside project and commercial teams
