Systems Engineering - Job Description


About the Role

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of customers with the goal of delivering a quality product that meets user requirements. The role involves design, creation, and optimization of systems, including:

  • Identification and quantification of system requirements
  • Creation of alternate system design concepts
  • Performance of design trade studies
  • Selection and implementation of best designs
  • Verification of proper integration and execution Covering the full spectrum from concept to production to operation.

Impact encompasses approaches, projects, and programs within functional areas or affected business organizations, influencing:

  • Ways of working
  • Quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of teams Significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies, this role requires moderate autonomy and high levels of operational judgment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Product & System Integration

  • Conducts component and product integration, spanning multiple components/products to achieve maximum performance and operability.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flows them downward into design documents.
  • Drives validation and verification activities at a system level, including system-level testing.
  • Defines product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.
  • Manages interfaces between components and execution organizations.
  • Oversees CTQ (Critical-to-Quality) and Risk trades in component design teams.
  • Manages overall product configuration and configuration control.

Required Qualifications

For roles outside of the USA:

  • Significant experience in Systems/Technology Engineering at a level equivalent to:
    • A Master’s degree from an accredited university or college, or
    • A high school diploma with relevant experience.

For roles within the USA:

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited university or college, or
  • A high school diploma/GED with at least six years of experience in the Job Family Group(s)/Function(s).

  • Capacity to document, plan, execute, and market programs
