Lead Quality Assurance Engineer
Lead QA Engineer
We're looking for an experienced Lead QA Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering a market-leading payments platform operating at significant scale. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QA leader to shape the quality strategy across a modern cloud-based platform, ensuring robust, scalable software that supports high-volume, business-critical transactions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building and evolving QA functions, defining testing strategy from the ground up, mentoring QA engineers, and working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Salary: Up to £70,000 plus 10% bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
The Role
As Lead QA Engineer, you'll take ownership of the overall QA strategy across multiple delivery teams, balancing technical leadership with people management and stakeholder engagement. You'll lead the QA function, helping to develop and mentor engineers while defining scalable testing approaches across application, API and data platforms. A key part of the role will involve creating and implementing test strategies from scratch, particularly around data quality and validation, whilst ensuring testing aligns with wider business objectives and customer outcomes. Although this is a leadership-focused position, you'll still possess a strong technical understanding of modern testing practices, enabling you to guide engineers, challenge technical decisions and drive continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
